A Critical Care Paramedic - Initial Course is being offered through the Continuing Healthcare and Safety Department of Roane State Community College beginning October 1sr through November 13, 2026.

Who it's for: L.P.N.'s, C.C.M.A.'s or those who need IV Therapy Certification under Physician direction
What you'll learn: This course is designed specifically for C.C.M.A.'s and L.P.N.'s who need certification to provide intravenous therapy under the direction of a physician. It is also fitting for any level of provider who would like to refresh their intravenous therapy skill set.
This forty (40) hour course meets the Tennessee Board of Nursing requirements by following the 2016 Standards of Practice for IV Therapy published every five (5) years by the Infusion Nurses Society (INS). Instruction, including theory and clinical experiences, will be both online and in class on Skills Practice and Assessment days. This course will not certify students to hang medications, blood products or narcotics, if that is not already in their scope of practice.

Who it's for: Registered Nurses seeking E.M.T. licensure
What you'll learn: This course will apply the Registered Nurse’s previous clinical knowledge and skills to prehospital situations and supplement it with the additional knowledge and skills necessary to function in the prehospital environment. This intensive course will cover topics such as prehospital assessment, EMS equipment, patient management, field triage and EMS operations. A portion of the didactic course work will be done online prior to arriving at the campus. Clinicals will be scheduled on Saturday and Sunday. The didactic portion is extensive, online work that requires at least one month to complete. That portion of the course will be run as an online course through RSCC’s Momentum portal and requires that candidates are registered by the “MUST REGISTER BY DATES”, normally, this will be 4 weeks before the classroom dates
Successful completion of the course will result in a certificate of completion and eligibility to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians exam for State licensure as an EMT.
Notes: Must have current active RN license, 2 yrs. full time experience in an Emergency Dept. or Critical Care Unit. Current certification in BLS, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, PHTLS or TNCC.
